Book Club Run: The Lost Book of Adana Moreau

Join Read & Run Chicago guide Chelsey Grassfield on Saturday, March 25 at 10:00am for a 5-mile, easy-paced (11:00 min/mile) run through Humboldt Park and Logan Square inspired by Michael Zapata’s award-winning novel, The Lost Book of Adana Moreau. The running route is based on Chicago-centered locations featured in this story.

In Michael Zapata’s The Lost Book of Adana Moreau, you’ll meet the Last Pirate of the New World, a Studs Terkel-esk collector of stories, and a sci-fi fan turned writer. The book touches the Dominican Republic, Israel, Vitebsk but New Orleans and Chicago’s Humboldt Park of today and 1930s “Jewtown” feature most prominently. Each character grapples with forced migrations and their sense of place, while life-long friendships are strengthened by the compulsive need to record and tell stories. We’ll discuss these and many other themes in this extraordinary tale.

Following the run, runners will meet up with author Michael Zapata at Golden Nugget Pancake House (2406 W. Diversey) for an exclusive post-run guided discussion.

If you love this book and want to join the discussion without running, plan to arrive at Golden Nugget Pancake House between 11:45am-12pm for the post-run discussion portion of the event.
