Lincoln Yards has the potential to be one of the largest redevelopment projects in Chicago’s history. It required changing the area’s previous industrial zoning and over a billion dollars in public subsidy to support an ambitious but controversial megaproject flanking the Chicago River. Led by Sterling Bay, the Chicago developer responsible for the redevelopment of the West Loop/Fulton Market area, the project proposes thousands of new jobs and housing units.
Join us on Sunday, May 7 as we run the 2.5-mile length of this proposed project and discuss its progress and potential benefits and disadvantages. We will talk about the area’s industrial history, how plans get made in our city, and the changing role of the Chicago River.
