Running Tour of The Beauty of Your Face

Join Read & Run Chicago guide and Associate Professor at Valparaiso University George Potter for an easy-paced (11:00 min/mile), 4-mile point-to-point run in Bridgeview, a Southwest Chicago suburb with one of the highest concentrations of Palestinian Americans.

The information presented in this tour is independent but complimentary of Sahar Mustafah’s coming-of-age novel set in fictitious Tempest, Illinois, The Beauty of Your Face. Reading the novel is highly encouraged. On this running tour, you’ll learn about domestic and international migration of Palestinians and gain context into the post 9/11 surveillance of Palestinians in Chicago, plus support local businesses when you sample savory and sweet treats along the way.

Besides Sahar Mustafah’s novel, runners are also invited to read Palestinian Chicago: Identity in Exile by Loren D. Lybarger.
